ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Omni wheel

Hello there, kiddo! Today, we are going to learn about a special kind of wheel called omni wheel.

So, imagine you have a regular wheel that goes forward and backward, right? The omni wheel is a bit different because it can go not just forward and backward, but also sideways or even diagonally! How cool is that?

Now, let's imagine you have four of these omni wheels placed on a robot. Each one is facing a different direction - front, back, left and right. So, when the robot moves forward, all four wheels will move together and push the robot forward. If the robot wants to move to the right, it will just spin the left wheels in one direction and the right wheels in the other direction. This will make the robot move sideways easily!

Another cool thing about the omni wheel is that it has little rollers on its sides that let it move sideways without slowing down. So, even if the robot is moving at a fast speed, it can easily change its direction without losing its momentum.

Overall, the omni wheel is a great addition to robots, especially those used in warehouses or factories where they need to move in many directions quickly and efficiently. And now, you know all about it!
