ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

One half

Okay kiddo, let's say you have a cookie and you want to split it into two pieces so you can share it with your friend. When you split the cookie exactly in the middle, you now have two pieces of the same size. One of those pieces is called "one half."

If there were 2 of the same cookies and you split them the same way, you'd still have one half of each cookie. So whenever you split something into two equal pieces, one of those pieces is called one half. It's like sharing, but making sure everyone gets the exact same amount.
