ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Open access operator

Okay kiddo, so an open access operator is someone who makes it possible for people to use things like electricity or gas without having to go through a specific company.

Let's say you have a toy that you want to share with your friends. Normally, your friends would have to ask you for permission to play with it, but if you were an open access operator, you would let your friends come in and play with your toys whenever they wanted, without having to ask you first.

In the same way, an open access operator lets people use things like electricity or gas without having to go through a specific company. This can be really helpful because it means that people have more choices and can often save money by using the service that is cheapest or most convenient for them.

Does that make sense, little one?
