Open bite malocclusion

So, you know how you have teeth in your mouth, right? Well, sometimes when people's teeth grow, they don't meet each other properly when they bite down. This is called a malocclusion.

An open bite malocclusion is when there is a space between the upper and lower teeth when they bite down. It's like a little window in your mouth where the teeth don't touch.

This can happen for different reasons. Sometimes people suck their thumb or a pacifier too much when they are younger and it can change the way their teeth grow. Other times, it can be because the jaw bones grow differently.

Having an open bite malocclusion can make it harder to bite into food and to chew. It can also affect the way you talk and even how your face looks. So, if someone has an open bite malocclusion and it's causing problems, they might need to go to a dentist or orthodontist who can help by giving them braces, a retainer, or even surgery to fix it.
