ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Open plan

Imagine you are playing with your toy blocks. You build a tower using many different blocks. Each block has its own space and is separate from the others. This is called a closed plan.

Now imagine taking away all the walls and making all the blocks in your tower connect with each other, sharing the same space. This is called an open plan.

Open plan means that there are no walls separating different areas of a room or building. Instead, different parts of the space are connected together and share the same area. This can be a good thing because it makes the space feel bigger and more open. It also makes it easier for people to see and talk to each other, even if they are in different parts of the room.

However, open plan can also have some drawbacks. Sometimes people need quiet areas to work or rest, and without walls to block out noise and distractions, it can be difficult to find a peaceful space. Also, sometimes people need privacy to do certain things, like make phone calls or have important conversations.

Overall, open plan can be a fun and exciting way to use space, but it's important to think about the pros and cons before deciding if it's the right choice for you.
