Operation Ivy Bells

Operation Ivy Bells was a secret mission to gather secret information from the former Soviet Union during the Cold War. It happened in the 1980s when many countries were worried about what the Soviet Union was up to. The mission was about getting access to undersea communication cables that the Soviet Union used for their secret messages.

To do this, the United States Navy created special submarines that would go deep into the ocean to reach the cables. These submarines would then attach special equipment to tap into the cables without being detected. This enabled the US Navy to learn about the Soviet's plans and secrets. They had to be very careful because if they were found out by the Soviet Union, it could have led to war.

Overall, Operation Ivy Bells was successful in gathering valuable information that helped the United States keep an eye on the actions of the Soviet Union during the Cold War.
