Operation Looking Glass was a military operation that lasted from the 1960s until 1991. It involved a team of people (known as "Looking Glass" operators) who would fly around in an airplane and observe the Earth's surface. The purpose of the mission was to monitor global events such as wars, weather, and global politics, and to provide the US military with real-time intelligence about what was happening in the world. The airplane had special equipment on board that allowed the Looking Glass operators to get a real-time view of the Earth from above. They could see what was happening on the ground and even track the movement of enemy forces. The Operation Looking Glass team was also responsible for watching for incoming missiles and nuclear weapons and alerting the US military so that they could prepare for any possible attack.
