ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Operation Vistula

Hello there! Today, I'll be telling you all about something called Operation Vistula. Are you ready to learn?

So, back in the year 1947, there was a big event that happened in Poland called Operation Vistula. It was a plan made by the Polish government to move a bunch of people who were Ukrainian from their homes and send them to different parts of Poland. These people were living in an area of Poland called the "Recovered Territories" and the government thought that they were helping them by moving them to other places.

But here's the thing, these Ukrainian people didn't want to move. They were happy living in their homes and didn't want to leave. But the government didn't listen to them and used force to move them out. They even destroyed their homes and belongings to make sure they couldn't come back.

This was a really sad event in history because it caused a lot of people to lose their homes and be separated from their families. It's important to remember events like this so that we can learn from them and make sure they never happen again.

I hope that helps explain Operation Vistula to you. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
