Oppenheimer–Phillips process

The Oppenheimer-Phillips Process is a way of making a special kind of nuclear reaction happen.

You know how we have tiny, tiny particles called atoms, right? One way to make energy is to make these atoms go crazy and break apart. But another way to make energy is to take these tiny particles and stick them together, making a new kind of atom.

The Oppenheimer-Phillips process is a way of sticking two kinds of atoms together, but not just any atoms. We're sticking together atoms that have really tiny particles inside, called protons and neutrons. These atoms are called isotopes.

So we take two isotopes and shoot them at each other really, really fast. When they collide, the protons and neutrons in each of the isotopes come together and make a bigger atom.

When they do this, they also create a lot of energy. Scientists use this process to make things like nuclear power, which is a way to make electricity without burning coal, oil, or gas.

But it's really important to be careful with this process because it can also be very dangerous. If things go wrong, it can create a really big explosion, like a bomb. So scientists need to be very careful and make sure everything is done safely when they use the Oppenheimer-Phillips process.
