Opposition research

Opposition research is like when you go to a competition. You try to learn as much as you can about the other people in the competition so that you can do better than them. In politics, opposition research is when a candidate or a political party tries to find out what their opponent believes and what their weaknesses are so that they can come up with a better way to present their ideas and get more votes.
