ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Optical system

Hey kiddo! Today we're going to learn about optical systems. An optical system is like a bunch of things that help us see. It's like a whole team working together to make our eyes see better.

Firstly, let's talk about lenses. Lenses are like little pieces of glass or plastic that bend light. Think of them like a bendy straw - when you look through them, the thing you're looking at gets bigger or smaller.

Next, we have mirrors. Mirrors reflect light, just like when you see yourself in the mirror! They help us see things that are far away by bouncing the light back to our eyes.

Now, we also have prisms. Prisms are like little triangular pieces of glass that can split light into different colors, like a rainbow.

Finally, we have our eyes! Our eyes are like a camera, they take in all the light that comes from the optical system and send that information to our brains, so we can see.

So, now you know that an optical system is all about working together to help us see better. By using lenses, mirrors, prisms, and our own eyes, we can see everything around us in amazing detail!
