ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Optical trackpad

Hello there! I'll explain what an optical trackpad is in a way that's easy to understand for a 5-year-old.

An optical trackpad looks like a small, flat surface on some electronic devices such as laptops or smartphones. It is used to move a cursor or pointer on a computer screen.

The trackpad works through using light and tiny sensors that sense the movement of your finger on the surface of the trackpad. When you move your finger left or right, up or down or in any direction, the trackpad senses your finger movement and sends the information to the device's processor which interprets it as moving the cursor on the screen.

So just like a magic carpet moves where you want it to by pointing which direction to move, the optical trackpad helps to move the cursor by sensing the direction in which you are moving your finger on it.

That's it! I hope this helps you understand what an optical trackpad is.
