Order of Augustinian Recollects

Imagine a big family of monks who believe in a certain way of living and practicing their faith. This family is called the Augustinian Recollects. Within this family, there are different groups of monks who have their own rules and traditions, just like how your family might have different rules and traditions from your friend's family.

These different groups are called orders, and there are four orders within the Augustinian Recollects family. They are like different branches that all come from the same tree. Each order has its own leader called a prior, who is like the head of the family for that particular order.

The first order is called the Augustinian Order. They are the oldest and biggest order within the Augustinian Recollects family. They are like the grandparents of the family.

The second order is called the Discalced Augustinian Recollects. They believe in living a very simple and humble life, and they do not wear shoes, which is why they are called "discalced" (which means "without shoes" in Latin). They are like the strict aunt or uncle in the family who always follows the rules.

The third order is called the Augustinian Recollects of the Assumption. They are like the cousins in the family who live in a different country, because they are mostly found in France and other parts of Europe. They focus on prayer and helping others in need.

The fourth order is called the Augustinian Recollects of the Province of St. Nicholas of Tolentine. They are like the youngest siblings in the family, because they were founded last and are the smallest order. They focus on education and missionary work.

All of these orders within the Augustinian Recollects family have the same beliefs and values, but they have different traditions and practices that make them unique. And just like how different members of your family might celebrate holidays in different ways, these different orders have their own special ways of living out their faith.
