Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area
Okay kiddo, so we’re going to talk about a really cool place called the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area!
This is a big, open space in Oregon where you can see lots of really big sand hills, kind of like a sandy desert. It's near the Pacific Ocean, so you might even see the water too!
People love going to the Oregon Dunes because it's a great place to play! You can ride four-wheelers or dirt bikes, go hiking, or even go sandboarding.
But you know what's really cool? This place was formed a really, really long time ago when the wind and water moved the sand around. The wind would push the sand from the ocean onto the shore, and then the water would move it back out to sea again.
Over time, the sand piled up higher and higher and made the dunes that you see today!
Now, because it's a special place, the government set aside the area to be protected and kept beautiful for people like us to play in for a long time to come. Pretty neat, huh?
