ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Ortho ester

Okay kiddo, let me explain what an ortho ester is in a way that you can easily understand.

You know how we use glue to stick things together like paper, cardboard or even toys? Glue is made up of a bunch of tiny particles that stick to each other and form a strong bond.

Similarly, an ortho ester is a type of molecule that is made up of even tinier particles called atoms. Ortho esters are really good at sticking together with other molecules, kind of like how glue sticks things together.

Now, imagine if you wanted to make a toy out of a bunch of small pieces. You could use glue to stick the pieces together, but what if you wanted to take the toy apart later? You can't really un-glue it, can you?

This is where an ortho ester comes in handy. It's a really special kind of molecule that can be easily broken apart into its individual pieces. So if you use an ortho ester to stick your toy together, you can take it apart later by simply breaking it apart into the separate pieces.

Isn't that cool, kiddo? Ortho esters are like tiny building blocks that can be put together and taken apart really easily!
