Orthokeratology

Orthokeratology, or "Ortho-K" for short, is when someone puts a special type of contact lens in their eyes before they go to sleep. The lenses are made in a special way that helps flatten the front part of the eye while you sleep. When you take the lenses out in the morning, you can see better without having to wear glasses or regular contact lenses during the day.

This type of treatment is helpful for some people who have trouble seeing things that are far away, called nearsightedness. Nearsightedness is when things far away look blurry, but things up close look clear. By using Ortho-K lenses, your vision can be temporarily improved without having to wear glasses or contact lenses all day long.

It is important to remember that Ortho-K lenses are not a permanent fix for nearsightedness and do not work for everyone. It is also very important to follow the instructions of your eye doctor to keep your eyes healthy while using Ortho-K lenses.
