Otto Rank was a thinker and writer from the early 1900s. He was very interested in the subconscious mind, which is a part of the mind that holds our thoughts and beliefs that we aren't always aware of but which influences how we think, act, and feel. He believed that there was a “life force” inside of us, which could be either creative or destructive. He thought that if we were able to access and understand this life force within us, we could improve our lives. He also believed that there was a hierarchy of different “levels” of this life force, and that we could use them to our advantage. He proposed several methods for doing this, such as dream analysis and “free association”, which is a technique where you let your mind wander to find creative solutions to problems. Ultimately, Otto Rank wanted to help people to access the power within them to become more successful and live more creatively.
