Outer measure is a way of measuring the size or area of something. It’s usually used to measure things that can’t be cut into standardized pieces, like shapes or pieces of land. To do this, outer measure breaks the shape or piece of land into smaller pieces, and then adds up all the pieces to get the total size. So if there’s a square shape that's broken into 5 small rectangles, outer measure would add up the size of all five rectangles to get the total size of the square.
