ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Outside air temperature

Outside air temperature is how hot or cold it is outside. It's like when you go outside to play and you can feel if it's too hot or too cold.

We can measure the outside air temperature with a special tool called a thermometer. It tells us how many degrees it is outside, kind of like when we measure how tall we are in feet or centimeters.

When it's really hot outside, we may need to wear lighter clothes like shorts and a t-shirt, and when it’s really cold, we need to wear heavier clothes like a jacket, hat, and gloves. The outside air temperature can also affect things like plants and animals, and how we can use our cars and buildings to stay comfortable.

So, outside air temperature is simply how hot or cold it is outside, and we can measure it with a thermometer to know how to dress and stay comfortable.
