ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Overlinking

Overlinking is when someone puts too many links in a piece of writing. You know how sometimes when you click on a word in a paragraph, it takes you to another page with more information about that word? Well, that's what a link is.

Now, imagine you're reading a story and every other word is a different color and you can click on all of them. It might be fun to click around at first, but it can also be really confusing and overwhelming. It's the same with overlinking. When there are too many links, it can distract from the main point of the writing and make it hard to focus on what you're trying to learn or read about.

So, it's important to use links thoughtfully and only when they're really necessary. That way, people can easily understand and follow your ideas without feeling like they're lost in a sea of clickable words.
