ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Overnutrition

Overnutrition happens when we eat too much food, especially unhealthy food that doesn’t have the right nutrients we need to stay healthy. Just like how we need to put gas in a car to run it, we need to put good food in our bodies to keep them running right.

But sometimes we eat more food than our bodies need, which can make us feel sick, tired, and even lead to health problems later on. Eating too much fatty or sugary foods can make it harder for our bodies to process all the extra calories and nutrients, and that can lead to weight gain or obesity.

Just like how we shouldn’t eat too many cookies or candy, we need to make sure we’re eating the right kinds of foods in the right amounts to stay healthy and happy. So, it’s important to eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins, and to try to limit sugary snacks and junk food that can make us feel not-so-great.
