Overseas Vietnamese are Vietnamese people who live in different countries around the world. Just like how you have friends who may have moved to another city or town, some of the Vietnamese people have moved to other countries to live and work there. Some of them left Vietnam a long time ago, while others left more recently.
When people move to another country, they sometimes take parts of their culture along with them. This means that even though some Vietnamese people live in another country, they still celebrate Vietnamese holidays, eat Vietnamese food, and speak Vietnamese with their families and friends.
Being an overseas Vietnamese can be both exciting and challenging. It can be exciting to learn about new cultures and make new friends, but it can also be hard to be far away from family and friends in Vietnam. Nonetheless, many overseas Vietnamese still love and cherish their Vietnamese heritage even while building new lives in other parts of the world.
