PAMELA Project
Okay kiddo, do you know what a project is? It's like a big school assignment that you have to work on for a while. The Pamela Project is a big project done by some smart grown-ups. The Pamela Project is actually all about making a computer do a better job of understanding human speech.
Have you ever talked to a computer like Alexa or Siri? Sometimes they don't understand what we say because they're not very good at hearing and understanding human language. But Pamela is trying to change that!
Pamela is short for “Perceptual and Auditory Modeling of Environment for Mobile Applications.” This means the smart grown-ups are trying to teach the computer how to hear better and understand human language more like we do.
