Okay kiddo, so you know how your heart beats by itself without you having to think about it, right? But sometimes, people's hearts don't beat the way they should. That's where a pacemaker comes in.
A pacemaker is a tiny device that helps your heart keep a regular beat. It's kind of like a little watch that lives inside your body. Sometimes, though, when people have a pacemaker, they can develop something called "pacemaker syndrome."
Pacemaker syndrome means that the person is feeling sick or dizzy because their pacemaker isn't working well with their heart. The pacemaker might be making the heart beat too fast or too slow, or it might not be sending the right signals to the heart.
When this happens, the person might feel really tired or have trouble breathing. They might feel like they're going to pass out or get really dizzy. They might even have chest pain or a racing heartbeat.
Luckily, doctors can usually help people with pacemaker syndrome. They might adjust the pacemaker to make it work better with the person's heart. Or they might give the person medicine to help their heart beat more regularly.
With some help from the doctors, most people with pacemaker syndrome can feel much better and get back to their normal activities.
