Pacta conventa (Croatia)

Pacta conventa is a big fancy word that talks about an agreement made a long time ago in Croatia.

Basically, a long time ago when the king ruled Croatia, he made some rules with the people who helped him become king. These rules were called "pacta conventa" in Latin.

The king promised to treat his people fairly and to follow the laws that they agreed on. In exchange, the people promised to follow the king, be loyal to him, and help him when he needed it.

It was kind of like a good agreement between friends. They agreed to be nice and helpful to each other.

Even though it happened a really long time ago, people still talk about pacta conventa in Croatia today because it was an important promise between the king and his people.
