Paleomap

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a map before? Well, paleomap is a kind of map, but it shows what the world was like a very long time ago, when the dinosaurs roamed the earth!

Scientists use something called "plate tectonics" to figure out where the continents used to be millions of years ago. This means that they look at things like rock formations, fossils, and how the Earth's surface has changed over time.

Then, they use all of that information to create a paleomap, or a map that shows what the world looked like in the past. It can be really exciting because sometimes you can see that the continents were in different places, or that there were huge, ancient oceans that don't exist anymore.

By studying paleomaps, scientists can learn a lot about how the Earth has changed over time and how different species of plants and animals have evolved over millions of years. So, next time you look at a map, just think - it's possible that someday people will be studying a paleomap of this same place, but from millions of years ago!
