Palmer Raids

Palmer Raids were searches and arrests done by the United States government during the 1920s. The government used these raids to try and catch people who might be involved with groups that could be dangerous to the United States. They especially looked for members of a group called the Communist Party, which some people thought was trying to overthrow the government. During the raids, the police searched many homes and buildings to find and arrest people who could be suspected of being communists. They also arrested many innocent people who had nothing to do with communism.
