ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Pan European Game Information

Okay, so you know how sometimes you want to play a video game, right? Well, when you're trying to decide which game to play, you might want to know if the game is okay for you to play. That means you want to know if the game has anything in it that might be too scary or harmful for you.

That's where Pan European Game Information (PEGI) comes in. PEGI is a group of people who have created a system to help you know what kind of content is in a video game. They use symbols (like pictures) to show if a game has anything that might be too scary, violent or inappropriate for kids like you.

So, if you see a game with a little symbol that shows an age (like 12 or 16), that means the game might have things in it that are not suitable for younger kids like you to play. And if you see a symbol with a hand holding a gun or a knife, that means the game might have violent or scary things in it.

So, PEGI is like a guide to help you and your parents know if a video game is safe and suitable for you to play.
