Panama hat

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen people wearing a hat that's made out of straw-like material and it's usually light in color? That's what we call a Panama hat.

Now here's the interesting part, Panama hats were not actually made in Panama, but in Ecuador! Long time ago, people needed a hat that would protect them from the hot sun in Panama, and someone from Ecuador made a hat that was perfect for the job. Eventually, the hat became so popular that people started calling it the Panama hat, even though it was made in Ecuador.

The hats are made out of a special plant called a Toquilla palm, and the leaves are very thin and flexible. The leaves are then woven together to create the hat, and it can take days or even weeks to make just one hat!

Panama hats are loved by many people because they are light, breathable and offer excellent protection from the sun. They are also very stylish and can go well with almost any outfit. So, if you ever visit a sunny place and want to keep your head cool and protected, remember to look for a Panama hat!
