ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Pantheon (gods)

So, imagine you're playing with some toy figures - you have some superheroes, some animals, some fairy tale characters, and even some gods. Like your other toys, your god figures have special powers and abilities that make them really cool.

Now, imagine you have a whole bunch of kids playing with their own toys, each with their own gods. Just like you might make up stories and adventures with your toys, these kids are imagining their gods doing amazing things too. Some might imagine their gods controlling the weather, or ruling over the ocean, or helping people in need.

There are different groups of gods from different cultures - some from ancient Greece, some from ancient Egypt, some from ancient Rome, and many more. Each of these groups of gods has their own stories and legends, and they all have different personalities and powers.

Now, pantheons are just a fancy word for a group of gods from a particular culture or religion. So when people talk about the Greek pantheon, they're talking about all the gods from Greek mythology - like Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, and Apollo. And when they talk about the Egyptian pantheon, they're talking about all the gods from Egyptian mythology - like Ra, Osiris, Isis, and Anubis.

Basically, a pantheon is just a big group of really cool and powerful god figures that people believe in and tell stories about. They're like the ultimate toy figures for people who love fantasy and mythology!
