ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Parataxic distortion

Parataxic distortion is when someone makes assumptions and judgments about someone else without getting to know them first. It's like being biased or jumping to conclusions about someone before you know them. For example, if you hear that your new neighbor is from a different country than yours, you might make assumptions about them because of it, like thinking they look different or that they don't speak your language. This is parataxic distortion because you made these assumptions without getting to know the person first.
