Parikrama

Parikrama is a really cool tradition in some parts of India where people take a journey around a special place. This special place could be a temple or a shrine or something else that is really important to the people doing the parikrama.

So imagine you really, really like a special toy. You want to show how much you love it and how important it is to you. One way you might do this is by walking around it in a circle, over and over again. That's a bit like what parikrama is. It's a way of showing how much you care about something.

But parikrama isn't just about walking in a circle. It's also about being really respectful and mindful when you do it. For example, some people might stop and pray or sing songs as they walk around the special place. Others might stop to touch the walls or gates or statues of the place they're circling. Some might even do the journey on their hands and knees!

All of these things show that parikrama is kind of like a big, important hug you're giving to the special place you're circling. And it's really special to the people who do it because they feel like they're getting closer to the things they love and care about.
