Parody music

Do you remember when you used to sing a song with different lyrics to make it funny? That is the same thing that people do with parody music. They take an existing song that you know, like "Old Town Road", and change the words to make it silly or funny. Parody music is when someone writes new words to a familiar tune, to make people laugh or to criticize or comment on something. A good example of this is "Amish Paradise" by "Weird Al" Yankovic. He changes the words of "Gangsta's Paradise" to make a song about the Amish people. Parody music is meant to be funny and entertaining, but it can also be a way to express an opinion about a topic. Just think of it as taking a song and giving it a new, silly life!
