When a mommy and a daddy have a baby, the baby gets some things from mommy and some things from daddy. These things are like little pieces called "particles" that help make the baby who they are.
Sometimes, the particles from mommy and daddy mix together in a special way and the baby gets a combination of mommy and daddy's particles. Other times, the baby might get more particles from one parent than the other. This is called "particulate inheritance."
For example, let's say mommy has blue eyes because she has blue eye particles, and daddy has brown eyes because he has brown eye particles. If the baby gets more blue eye particles from mommy, they might have blue eyes too. But if the baby gets more brown eye particles from daddy, they might have brown eyes instead.
Particulate inheritance happens with lots of different things, not just eye color. It helps make every person unique and special in their own way.
