ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Passion of Jesus

Hello! So, the passion of Jesus is a really important story from the Bible that talks about what happened to Jesus before he died. It's a sad story, but it teaches us about love, sacrifice and forgiveness.

Ok, so Jesus was a really special person that lived a long time ago. He went around teaching people about how to be good and kind to each other. But some other people didn't like what he was teaching, and they were really mean to him. They accused him of doing things he didn't do and they made fun of him.

One day, some soldiers came and took Jesus away. They put him through a lot of really tough and difficult things. They whipped him, which means they hit him with long, leather straps that hurt really badly. They put a crown of thorns on his head, which is a bunch of sharp branches that can really hurt.

Then, they made him carry a big heavy cross, which is a wooden structure that people were usually hung on to die. Jesus was really tired and hurt, but he kept going, because he knew that he had to do this.

Finally, they hung Jesus on the cross, and left him there. This is the saddest part of the story. Jesus died on the cross, which means that he stopped breathing and his heart stopped beating.

But the story doesn't end there. Jesus' death is really important because it reminds us that he loved us so much, that he was willing to go through all that pain and suffering. And even though he died, he also came back to life, which makes him a really special and important person.

So, the passion of Jesus is a really important story that teaches us about love, sacrifice, and forgiveness. It helps us remember how much Jesus loved us, and reminds us that we should always try to be kind to each other, just like he taught us.
