ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Passive revolution

Okay kiddo, imagine you have a toy robot that you love to play with. But suddenly, you realize this robot is old and outdated. It can't do all the cool things that your friends' robots can do.

Now, what can you do? You have two options. You can either throw away the robot and get a new one, or you can try to fix it and make it better.

Now, let's think about this on a larger scale, not just with toys. When something in society, like a rule or a system, becomes old or outdated, there are two options as well. People can either get rid of it and start over, or they can try to fix it.

If they decide to fix it, but in a way that doesn't really change things much or help the disadvantaged groups, that's called a passive revolution. It's like tinkering with the toy robot but not really making any big improvements.

So, a passive revolution is when people try to change something, but without making any significant progress. It might look like change is happening, but it doesn't really change the way things work or improve the situation for everyone.

Does that make sense, kiddo?
