ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Pasteur point

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of Louis Pasteur? He was a scientist who discovered a really important thing about germs and how to get rid of them. One thing he found out is that if you heat up something enough, it can kill all the germs in it.

Now, imagine you have some milk. Milk can have germs in it that can make people sick. But if you heat up the milk enough, it can kill those germs and make the milk safe to drink. This is called pasteurization.

The pasteur point is a really specific temperature that you need to heat the milk to in order to kill all the germs in it. It's like a magic number that helps you make sure the milk is safe to drink. So, if you ever see the words "pasteurized" on a carton of milk, you know it's been heated up to this special temperature to make sure it's safe.
