Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of a man named Paul of Thebes? He was a very special person who lived a very long time ago in Egypt.
You see, Paul of Thebes lived in the desert all by himself for many many years. He was what we call a hermit, which means he chose to live all alone to practice his religion and get closer to God.
Paul would spend his days praying, fasting, and thinking about God. He didn't have any fancy things like a house or yummy food. Instead, he lived in a small cave and ate only bread and water.
But even though he was all alone, he became very well known because people admired how dedicated he was to God. People even came to visit him in his cave just to hear his wise words and ask him for advice.
So, even though he didn't have many things, he still had a very important role in his community and was remembered as a very special person.
