ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Pax Hispanica

Pax Hispanica is a fancy term that means "Spanish Peace". A long time ago, Spain was a big country and they wanted to keep everything nice and peaceful, so they came up with an idea called "Pax Hispanica".

Just like how your mommy and daddy make sure you and your siblings are getting along and not fighting, Spain wanted all the places they ruled over to get along and not fight. They talked to everyone and made sure they didn't have any problems with each other.

They also made sure that their army was very strong and well-trained, so that nobody would try to start a fight. They even gave some of their army people jobs like being judges or police officers to help keep things peaceful.

So, overall, Pax Hispanica is just a fancy way of saying that Spain was working really hard to make sure everyone in the places they ruled over got along and didn't fight. Just like how your mommy and daddy want you and your siblings to get along and have a peaceful home.
