Pedimental sculptures in Canada

Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a big building with a triangle shape on the top called a roof? That shape is called a pediment. A long long time ago, people used to decorate the pediments of important buildings in Canada with sculptures. These sculptures were made out of stone or metal and were really big and heavy.

People made these sculptures to show important stories or to honor famous people. For example, you might see a sculpture of a soldier or a leader on a building that used to be a government building. Or, you might see a sculpture of a mythical creature or a symbol that represented something important.

Sometimes, the sculptures were really big and looked like they were coming out of the building. Other times, they were smaller and were just placed on the pediment to add some decoration.

Today, you can see many pedimental sculptures in different parts of Canada. They are really cool to look at and are a part of Canadian history and culture.
