Penrose Medal

Okay kiddo, so the Penrose Medal is a really special award that scientists get when they do really amazing things working with rocks and minerals deep inside the Earth. It’s named after a very important scientist named Richard Penrose, who was really interested in the Earth’s inner workings.

Sometimes, scientists use special tools to study rocks and minerals that come from deep underground. They can study things like the age of the rock, what it’s made of, and even how it moves around the Earth!

When a scientist does a really great job studying rocks and minerals, they might get nominated for the Penrose Medal. It’s like a gold medal that says they did an extra special job in their work. It’s a really big deal in the science community and only a few people get it each year!
