Pentito

Okay kiddo, have you ever heard of the word "pentito"? It's an Italian word that means someone who used to be part of a group of bad guys, but then decided to tell the police all the secrets about their group.

You know how you're not supposed to keep secrets from your friends and family, right? Well, these bad guys have lots of secrets that they don't want anyone else to know about. But when a bad guy becomes a pentito, they decide to share all those secrets with the police!

The police want to catch all of the bad guys in the group, but it's really hard to do that if nobody talks. That's why they like it when a pentito comes forward - they can tell the police everything they know about their old group, which makes it easier for the police to catch the other bad guys.

Being a pentito isn't an easy decision to make, though. Most of the time, the bad guy who becomes a pentito is scared of getting caught by the police, or maybe they just don't want to be part of the bad group anymore. Either way, they have to be really brave to tell the police everything they know.

So, that's what a pentito is - someone who used to be a bad guy, but then decided to help the police by telling them everything they know. It's kind of like being a secret agent, but instead of spying on other people, you're helping the good guys catch the bad guys!
