Perforation (oil well)

When we want to get oil out of the ground, we have to dig a deep hole called an oil well. To make it so the oil can come out, we have to poke little holes in the wall of the well, and that is called "perforating" the well. It's kind of like putting tiny little straws in the sides of the well so that the oil can come out and go to where it needs to go. It's a very important part of getting oil out of the ground!
