Periodontics

Have you ever heard of a toothbrush? You know how we use it to clean our teeth every day to keep them healthy and strong? Well, there's another part of our mouth that needs taking care of too - our gums!

Periodontics is all about taking care of our gums and the bones that hold our teeth in place. You see, when we don't brush our teeth properly or often enough, harmful bacteria can start growing in our mouths. This bacteria can sneak into the space between our teeth and our gums, causing them to become inflamed and sore.

If this condition isn't taken care of, it can lead to something called periodontitis. This is when the bacteria can damage the bones that hold our teeth in place, making them loose and possibly fall out!

A specialist called a periodontist can help us take care of our gums and prevent these problems from happening. They can teach us how to properly brush and floss our teeth, use special tools to remove the bacteria hiding in our gums, and even clean deep down below our gumline where regular toothbrushes can't reach.

So, just like brushing our teeth, taking care of our gums is really important too. By practicing good oral hygiene habits and visiting a periodontist when we need to, we can make sure our gums stay healthy and our teeth stay strong and firmly in place!
