ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Persona (1966 film)

Okay, so there is this movie called Persona that was made in 1966. It's a Swedish movie, which means that the people in it talk in a language called Swedish, but don't worry, they put in subtitles so that you can understand what they're saying.

The movie is about two women who are spending time together on an island. One of the women is named Alma, and she is a nurse who is taking care of the other woman, whose name is Elisabet. Elisabet is an actress who has suddenly stopped talking, so Alma is there to keep her company and take care of her.

Now, the interesting thing about this movie is that it's not just a regular story with a beginning, middle, and end. It's more like a puzzle that you have to put together in your head as you watch it.

You see, there are a lot of scenes in the movie where it's not clear who is talking or what is really happening. Sometimes Alma says things that seem like they're coming from Elisabet, or vice versa. And there are also some really strange scenes that don't make any sense at all.

But here's the thing: that's kind of the point of the movie. The director, Ingmar Bergman, wanted to create a movie that played with your mind and made you question what is real and what is not. So when you watch the movie, you have to pay close attention to everything that's going on, and try to piece together what it all means.

It's not an easy movie to watch, and it might make your head hurt a little bit. But if you stick with it, and really think about what's happening, you might just have a really interesting and thought-provoking experience.
