Persons of National Historic Significance

"Persons of National Historic Significance" are people who have played a really important role in Canada's history. Like when you played an important role in your class play and everyone clapped for you, these people did amazing things in real life that helped Canada become the country it is today.

They did things that were very special and valuable, like working to make Canada a more fair and equal place, standing up for the rights of others, inventing things that helped people, or doing something that no one had ever done before.

Because these people did such important things, we remember and honour them by putting their names on a special list called the "Canadian Register of Historic Places". This means that people now and in the future will always know how special these people were and how they helped make Canada the amazing country it is today.
