Pesticides in the United States

Pesticides are chemicals that are used to protect crops from bugs, weeds, and other pests. Farmers use them so their crops will grow better and they will have more to sell at the market.

In the United States, the government makes rules to make sure that the pesticides will not hurt people or the environment. The government makes sure the pesticide companies test their chemicals and that they are safe to use.

Farmers have to follow rules about how much pesticide they can use and when they can use it. They also have to wear special clothes and masks when they use pesticides and not be around the crops for a while after they spray.

We can find traces of pesticides in our food, but the government makes sure that the levels are not too high so we don't get sick. Some people are worried about pesticides, so they choose to buy organic food, which means the food is grown without using any pesticides.

It is important to use pesticides to protect our food, but we have to make sure we do it safely so we don't hurt people or the environment.
