Peter and Iona Opie were two people who were really interested in children's rhymes and stories. They spent a lot of time talking to children and listening to what they had to say. Then, they wrote down all of the fun rhymes and stories that the children told them.
Their work helped us understand how children's rhymes and stories have changed over time. They also helped to preserve these traditions so that they could be shared with generations to come.
Think of the Opies as the people who gathered all the cool things kids said and did, so that we could learn from them and maybe have some fun, too!
