Pharmacology is the study of medicines and how they work. It looks at how medicines affect the body, so that doctors can decide which medicines are best to treat certain diseases or conditions. Medicines work by entering our bodies and helping it to do things that it can't do on its own. For example, some medicines help the body fight infections, while others help control pain or lower a person's blood pressure. Medicines can also be used to prevent diseases from happening, like vaccinations.
