Phenology

Phenology is the study of how plants and animals change and grow throughout the year. Think of it like a big calendar that tells us when things happen in nature. In the spring, flowers start to bloom, trees grow leaves, and birds come back from their winter vacations. In the summer, the weather gets hot and sunny, and plants produce fruits and vegetables. In the fall, the leaves change color and fall off the trees, and animals start to prepare for winter. In the winter, everything becomes quiet and animals hibernate or migrate to warmer places. Scientists who study phenology use this information to learn more about how nature works and how it might be affected by things like climate change. So, if you ever wonder why everything seems to happen at a certain time of year or why some years seem different from others, you can thank phenology!
